Study title: A Randomized Controlled Study to Evaluate Social Skill Treatment Options in Children with Autism Using VR Technology
Condition: Autism Spectrum Disorder
Purpose: To determine the effect of Floreo VR in social and communication skill building for children in ABA at Cortica.
Inclusion criteria:
Ages 5-10
Confirmed diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder
Engaged in behavior therapy at Cortica at least twice a week
Exclusion criteria:
Uncontrolled neurological disorders, such as epilepsy or migraine
Current disorders affecting balance, such as vertigo
Eye movement impairment
Virtual reality trial: To participate, we will first invite you and your child to try VR to ensure they are comfortable with the technology
Frequency of visits: Twice weekly visits over the course of 12 weeks, during which participants interact with FloreoVR or a matched control during in-clinic ABA sessions, and a follow-up at 24 weeks
Costs: No costs will be charged for any of the study procedures
Locations: 8 locations in California (Marin, Westlake Village, Glendale, Torrance, Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Carlsbad, & San Diego), 2 locations in Connecticut (Ridgefield, Trumbell), and 3 locations in Massachusetts (West Springfield, Shrewsbury, and Dedham)
