Lakisha Hayes, LPC, who began her therapy career in 2021, specializes in providing mental health services for children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma. Prior to joining Cortica, Lakisha served as a therapist at The Sanctuary Foster Care Services and Innovative Alternatives in Houston, Texas, where she conducted individual, family, and couples' therapy sessions, co-facilitated group therapy, and trained groups of professionals through psychoeducation about trauma-informed care for various populations. She also served as a group therapy facilitator at Charlie Health in a virtual IOP program, and Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital with a variety of patients from children and adolescents to adults. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Houston Christian University, and is licensed as a professional counselor in the state of Texas. She is fluent in English and passionate about empowering children and adults to succeed and thrive to achieve their goals and live life to its fullest through neurodiversity-affirming clinical care. In her free time, she enjoys Zumba classes, spending quality time with her family and friends, traveling, and going to the movies.
