Dr. Mary Steele, a board-certified pediatrician, has specialized training and expertise in neurodevelopment, behavior, and psychopharmacology. Dr. Steele studied human biology as an undergraduate at Stanford University and went on to complete her medical school training at Dartmouth and the University of Minnesota. She returned to Northern California for her pediatric residency at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). She then worked for several years as a general practitioner in San Francisco and Seattle.
In addition to her general pediatrics practice, Dr. Steele worked at the Golden Gate Regional Center evaluating and caring for children with developmental disabilities. Prior to joining Cortica, Dr. Steele returned to UCSF's developmental medicine division to focus on clinical initiatives related to the effects of adversity, trauma, and toxic stress on children and families.
Dr. Steele resides in San Francisco with her husband, two teenage daughters, and dog.
